Time for Soup!!

How about Tortellini Soup today?

2-3 carrots, diced
2-3 stalks of celery, diced
1 medium onion, diced
1 can northern or white beans
acine di pepe pasta
bulk italian sausage
frozen cheese tortellini
frozen chopped spinach
8- 14oz cans of chicken stock

sautee diced carrots, celery, and onion in a bit of oil over medium-low heat

when the vegetables are soft, add a couple of cans of broth. 

turn up heat to medium high.

bring broth to a simmer.

add can of rinsed white beans.

add a couple more cans of broth.

bring to simmer.

when the broth is simmering, sprinkle 1/2 cup of acine di pepe into broth.

stir.

meanwhile, make mini balls out of the sausage.

when the acine di pepe has cooked, add the sausage.

add two more cans of broth.

continue to keep the broth at a simmer.
add frozen tortellini.

cook through.

when tortellini is cooked, add a couple handfuls of frozen spinach.
stir to wilt.

dish into bowl with a ladle.

eat.

this holiday season, i encourage you to make an attempt to buy handmade gifts. let's start with "most" gifts.
here are some super terrific sites (other than Etsy) where you can easily buy handmade.  the ideas are spinning in my head already:

based out of tuscon, they have unique handmade gifts and easy search filters. the website design itself doesn't feel very modern, but it promotes community which is A-OK with me.

my favorite gifts are food gifts.  and what better than handmade food gifts.

YUM!  super cute ideas and yummy snack browsing.

the easiest and most specific search feature i've seen. 

limited u.s. currency choices,  but super cute things when you do find something.

i found more items that i really liked on this site. but it took a little digging.  the site was most comparable to etsy. super cute.

this site seemed ultra cool and a lot "younger" feeling than some of the other craft sites.  anything i landed on with this site, i wanted the item.  i would probably shop exclusively here if i could.

it won't be easy, but just TRY to include some handmade items.  "handmade" doesn't have the connotation it used to have.  believe me.  you'll get more reward and more HURRAY buying a handmade scarf rather than a scarf at Gap.
